Hi, I’m Nicole

I’m running for re-election to the Boulder City Council to continue fighting for you, and for a city where all of us can thrive.

Defending our progress.

Securing our future.

Scientist.

Problem-solver.

Community builder.

I’m a scientist, a union member, and a proud mom of two teenagers, and I’ve lived and worked in Boulder for 20 years. Like many in our community, I recently lost my job due to federal funding cuts. That experience deepens my resolve to keep showing up for our city, and for you.

Since joining City Council in 2021, I've helped expand affordable housing and renter protections, raise Boulder’s minimum wage, increase voter access, and create Boulder’s first library district. I’ve made public service more inclusive by improving council pay, mentoring new leaders, and strengthening our boards and commissions.

I’ve served as Mayor Pro Tem, represented Boulder on regional boards and committees, and stayed focused on equity, compassion, and evidence-based solutions every step of the way.

If re-elected, I’ll keep working to

  • Fund the things that matter and protect the things that work

Stabilize our city budget and continue investing in affordable housing, climate resilience, and the human services that make Boulder strong.

  • Build a government people can trust

Increase transparency, predictability, and fairness so local decisions are easier to understand, and everyone has a chance to be heard and represented.

  • Defend our progress, secure our future

Stand strong when federal agendas clash with our values, so we can protect our local priorities and keep our community safe.

Our city and people are worth fighting for

I’ll keep working for a city where

  • We’re building more housing in Boulder, but that’s just one part of meeting the affordability challenge. We also need to change outdated rules, protecting renters, and making sure our city works for the people who power it.

  • Homelessness in Boulder affects families, youth, and single adults. We’ve expanded housing and services, but instability and chronic homelessness persist. We must keep working to prevent housing-related crises and create lasting stability for everyone.

  • I’ve helped expand trails and open space access, improve nature-based climate solutions, and advance flood and fire prevention. I’ll keep fighting for climate strategies that help us live better now and prepare for what’s ahead.

  • Regional, state, and federal funding cuts make our revenue and spending more important than ever. I’ll continue to prioritize budget work because we need financial strategies that defend our progress and secure our future.

  • We’ve expanded emergency response capacity, strengthened critical infrastructure, and begun long-overdue upgrades to critical facilities. I’ll continue promoting investments that keep all of us safe through any challenge.

We need proven leaders who acknowledge facts, hold fast to Boulder’s progressive values, and act with courage and care. That’s the kind of leadership I’ll keep showing up with every single day.
